Four-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka has claimed her first trophy since giving birth.

She won the WTA 125 tournament in Saint-Malo, France. She beat Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan 6–1, 7–5 in the final. The victory came on clay, a surface Osaka has long considered her weakest.

“It’s kinda ironic,” she wrote on X. “That’s one of my favorite things about life though, there’s always room to grow and evolve.”

This is Osaka’s first clay-court title and a major step forward in her comeback. After giving birth to her daughter in July 2023, she returned to competition at the start of this year. Her return has included some early promise, followed by injury setbacks, and now a well-earned title.

With the win, Osaka moves back into the WTA top 50 for the first time since her return. She has spoken openly about the physical and emotional adjustments of competing again after childbirth. Up next: the Italian Open.
